I thought I was being helpful by adding onto an older thread, but anyway....

Quick question - what is the best way to get rid of old scrap wheels, that is rims and tyres still on them. I asked a scrap merchant before and they said that i would have to take off the tyres first. Is this what people normally do?

Yes tires have to come off and you bring in the metal rim on its own

It's been a while, I know but - who will take the old tyres from you?
Finally managed to get the rims of the tyres.

I take it you make baled silage. Ask a neighbour with a pit have they any use. If not it'll cost you morw than the wheels are worth to get rid.

Some scrap dealers take the wheels and tyres intact , but will reduce the amount due , so best to remove the tyres

At €5 a wheel for car wheels you would probably owe them money.

Well I loaded up the Ifor Williams with scrap and brough it in to Limerick. €155 in the pocket for just over a tonne. God the amount of crap that builds up in a farm over the years is unreal.

€140 for a boot full of batteries I got a few weeks ago.

They sold tyres to a neighbour of mine and 10 years later he paid them to take them away when he went all bales.
