    Personally I wouldn't do it.
A 1/2 tectite elbow will fit both nicely or use a 15mm elbow and change the nut and ring on the 1/2 side

Not only is it ok it is in the instructions that it has to be used on certain models. Triton as2000 triton, as2000x, triton as2000xt, triton t900pi to name but a few. For all as2000 versions it states clearly compression should not be used. If the pipes are not inserted correctly they will leak. With compression fittings there is not enough room inside the shower. You can use solider fitting if you want.

Ask yourself this, why do they include fittings in the box? Answer, because they are designed to work best with the shower. If in doubt then test it. Put some half inch pipe into it. Then try pull it out.

It won't leak. I have done thousands of these over the years. You'll have more trouble with compression. Phone triton Ireland Monday, they'll tell you.

Yes half inch qualpex or Cooper.
Is it an as2000xt you are fitting? If it is read the instructions carefully. Two important factors when fitting them. 1. Some of the back casing inc a screw hole have to be cut away if you are piping it from the back. 2. If fitting from the back you will remove two white inserts. These MUST be inserted into the bottom inlet pipes that you won't be using.
They are the 2 most common mistakes made even by plumbers & electricians.
