The 5-second jingle for Met Eirann: sounds a bit dated now, which to me adds to the charm.

The 'Sunday Miscellany' parp-tastic trumpet intro: my Sunday morning wake-up call :D

And the only good thing about the Ronan Collins show: his old theme music, 'Imogene' by The Les Reed Orchestra :)

I used to love the old BBC Radio 2 Sports theme on crackly medium wave.

oh, and Tico's theme (on the Gay Byrne Show) was brilliant. Distinctive sound, nice melody and you could clap along. It worked really well as an intro, ending and a break bumper

    - Sail On, which was the intro and outro to Seascapes on RTE1. Of course, it's also used for the shipping forecast on BBC radio. I think I preferred the Seascapes version. This reminds me of times when the electricity would go at home in the evening (a rare occurance), a portable radio would be put on in the living-room, which was sometimes on RTE1, and Seascapes would come on. I also think the late news on the station used to have different intro music, which was a grand tune. It's in my head, but I cannot for the life of me remember what it was used on, but it was certainly late on RTE. It would have been during the 90s.

    - When Jason Maine was on Q102 at night, he had the jingle "Jason Maine. That's right," (or something like that) followed by (jazzy) music that sounded like the intro for Ride Sally Ride, but not sure what the actual tune was. Also, he played THIS during the odd link.

    - When The Rock would be on for the few weeks during the summer, the jingles were good. When the station would be shutting down at the end of its run, all the jingles would be played in a row.

I can't think of any more at the moment. . .

For many years, BBC Radio 1 and Jam set the standard for radio jingles.

    Poparama....

    "Pop, Pop, Pop, Pop-Ar-Ah-Ah-Ma"

Can't remember who presented it but think it was on Saturday mornings on 2FM.

I think you left out one Pop. :)
It was Ruth Buchanan with Ian Dempsey or Jimmy Greeley or possibly both at different stages.

The intro to John Kenny's early 90's rock/metal show on a Sunday night - a snippet of 'Paranoid' by Black Sabbath :)

Dave Fanning using 'Oh Well' by Fleetwood Mac for his show (don't know if he still uses it, since he moved to weekends - haven't listened in) - quality record :)

RTE radio's station identification signal, O'Donnell Abu(the xylophone piece that's played just before the 6.30am news).

In the late 70's Linda Martin was commissioned by Radio Dublin to record a new image song for them. Even today, this is still exciting to listen to.

Timeline 21sec ,thought I was looking at a certain Mr AH.

Liked that theme music, I even have the single, flip side Pirates Lullaby the old Pat James theme tune Radio Dublin.

On a final note I was sad when all that bad stuff came out about EC, that gave a bad taste for me as it was a station I listened to night and day in the late 70's. Ah well.

AH was involved with the station back then; he sure as hell livened up radio with his meanderings :)

About EC, the fallout of it has pretty much wiped away the 30 years or so of history of the station and indeed it's competition from the 70's. Pity, it all needs to be recorded and acessible to all to read about.

At the risk of going completely off-topic now, who is AH?
