I bought a pack of 3 tubes in Argos today which were described online as 700 x 25c. However stamped on the tube is 27 x 1 and 1/4. Will these tubes fit in 700 x 25 tyres? I will probably soon change the tyres to 28's but I assume if they fit 25's they will be ok for the 28's. The tubes were advertised as Raleigh but I can't see any brand name on them and they came in a clear plastic bag also.

If you buy a new bike, you will get two tubes that will fit.

Why would I buy a new bike when all I want is spare tubes?

A quick google gave me this
The metric size for 27" x 1 1/4 replacment inner tubes is 700 x 25-32. So the tube you bought i think will work.

But you should think about what i said in my other post.

    Rule #12
// The correct number of bikes to own is n+1.

While the minimum number of bikes one should own is three, the correct number is n+1, where n is the number of bikes currently owned. This equation may also be re-written as s-1, where s is the number of bikes owned that would result in separation from your partner.

How much did you pay for them?

Nevermind: I see on their website that they're €13.09. Your local bike shop would probably give you three tubes for €15 or so.

27 x 1 is the diameter and thickness in inches which is roughly 700 x 25 so belt away.
