1.0 VW polo fuel issues

    Hey guys,

I was hoping maybe one of you could help me with an issue I have with my 2000 1.0 VW Polo. I had a real bad bogging, power, and idle issue for a while when I took this car off of a friend - maybe for a week or so, and she had the issue for a month maybe. It felt like either the cat or the O2 sensor. I recently ran the arse off of it when we had that ridiculous wind last weekend. I took her for maybe an hour at 80mph on the motorway(I think it was legal, anyway...). I could only do this due to the tail wind. So that was over an hour at 4K rpm in 5th. I then brought her home and now...well, she's 'fixed'. It's nearly like new. So, can someone tell me, did I just blow the crap out of my cat or o2 sensor, or wth happened? Is this a thing with Polo's? Did I just destroy my cat? Curious.

    Cheers

Its commonly known as an Italian tune up! Basically blows all the cobwebs out of the car. Especially useful if the car was never really driven properly before (ie spent all of its life at low speeds going around towns etc).
