Shogun 2, Napoleon or Rome 2?

I have recently just purchased my first proper gaming-focused PC and the first thing I thought of was which of the latest installment of TW titles will I get. I've only ever managed to peak myself at Medieval 2 whereas Empire ran okay but was very slow at some points.

Never gave the three latest versions a thought as my old PC would never be able to handle any of them.

I'm hoping to get one of these within the next few weeks and was just wonder which one would I enjoy more?

    Thanks.

Shogun 2, Shogun 2 good god Shogun 2!!!! Great game!

Failing that, I would honestly recommend Rome 1 over Rome 2. Now in its defense I haven't played Rome 2 much lately and it has got a lot of patches/DLC updates so perhaps it might be a good purchase when the steam sales start.
As for Napoleon, well I barely played it, Empire was also a massive disappointment, so I over looked it.

    Shogun 2.

I have all three, and Rome for all it's greatness is going to look it's age on your new rig,
Rome 2 will bug the sh1t out of you with it's bugs, there are many, and i dont think they can be fixed.

Napoleon is decent but again it's beginning to look it's age, the novelty of naval combat wears thin after a while too (imo)

Shogun 2 looks good, plays good and is good, and it's a lot cheaper these days, but you should consider waiting til the 19th (steamsale) to buy it :)

I have bought every game in the series.

The top 3 are as follows:

    Rome total 1
    Shogun total war 2
    Medieval total war

Stay away from Rome 2. A dirty, disappointing, glitch ridden mess.

I'll go against the grain and say Rome 2. I enjoyed Shogun, but the setting never really done it for me. I've put 150 hours into Rome 2, it has its issues but I'm still enjoying it.

I have Rome 1 myself and I loved it. Haven't played it in ages. Seems Shogun 2 is close-to-unanimous so I think I'll list it down.

I didn't know Rome II had problems :/

    Thanks lads :)

Shogun 2 + Expansion, simply because they're well polished and stable by this stage with a wealth of mods. Rome 2 in a year should improve a lot, especially with regard to mods, but right now it's an inferior game stability wise. I'd never advise someone not to go with Shogun 2 unless they hated warfare from that period in games. That and Shogun is cheaper usually.

Give CA time to fix Rome, and then the community to put together a supermod to turn it into something worthy of 100s upon 100s of hours. (a la the Empire Total War story with DarthMod). :D

Actually, shogun 2's expansion is standalone and brilliant.

Artillery works really well in that game, both naval and field cannons.

For me i would recommend from the newest releases.

    1. Shogun 2
    2. Shogun 2 fall of the samurai expansion
    3. Rome 2 i never had any major issues with rome but the updates have defo improved on it since its release. Did a full campaign as Egypt and currently doing a full campaign as sparta.

I never took to empire, or napoleon always felt like there was something lacking in those games.

I've been tempted to look into this series for a while too and did some digging to see which was the better option (also seemed to suggest Shogun 2 as the best of the bunch).

    It's a tenner here: http://www.mmoga.com/Steam-Games/Total-War-Shogun-2.html

    Shogun 2 is absolutely beautiful.

Very few bugs in it too.

Religious victories with Ikko Ikki are comical too

Neighbouring faction has massive armies and are threatening your borders, send in one elite monk, convert the population over the space of a year and have them fight each other, then stroll in with one general and take over :D

Similar to inciting unrest in Rome 2, makes for some interesting outcomes. Espionage ftw. :P

I got Shogun 2 for 14.99 on the Steam Summer Sale. Best fun I've had in a long time since Medieval 2. I'm looking into buying Rome II in a week or two, maybe tomorrow if my impulse kicks in and it's still on sale.

Tried to like Shogun 2 but I can't get past the unit movement speed. Everything happens too fast. Totally ruined the game for me. If the units moved the same as Medieval 2 I'd be a happy man. Maybe there's a mod for it? I must look.
