i believe i have a mild scoliosis in my t spine. been to chiro and physio, but with other issues and the back problem has come up in convo and they have treated for it.

i dont think there is much difference between the two long term wise, same exercise prescribed etc.
the physical adjustments were slightly different, chiro gives a better relief of pressure but doesnt seem to last long. physio seemed longer lasting.

all in all id say they were much of a muchness between the two, i preferred the physio but it wasnt drastically better.

my insurance covers 12 physio sessions and 12 alternative practitioner sessions so i can get long term tretment from both.

if i could only do one, or had to pay myself i would go to a physio, but get an xray.
so far only chiros have xrayed me, and only some.

    FYP.

My experience with people who have it is that once medically cleared to exercise, strengthening EVERYTHING gives a lot of relief.

Ya, I have major imbalances in my back muscles and have seen some improvement so far with the chiro. I'm going to continue the treatment with the chiro and monitor the progress. If it plateaus or stops I will consult a Physio, otherwise i will continue with it and have a physio look over it and assess in parallel.

Beware of chiropractors - there are many many links to back this up, but this one gives a sample http://www.theguardian.com/science/2010/mar/01/simon-singh-libel-case-chiropractors

Your route should be physio (get a recommendation) and possibly/probably Pilates after that (but get a recommendation again). Physio to alleviate immediate issue - Pilates to build up your muscle and alignment so that you can manage the condition yourself.

    .

    CONCLUSIONS:

Chiropractic manipulation of the cervical spine can produce dissections involving the cervical and cranial segments of the vertebral and carotid arteries. These injuries can be severe, requiring endovascular stenting and cranial surgery. In this patient series, a significant percentage (31%, 4/13) of patients were left permanently disabled or died as a result of their arterial injuries.

Erm, not sure where you are going with this. I was asking @N8 to elaborate on his response whereby he seemed to attempt to kick my comment

no exaggeration, this guy has changed my life. I have scoliosis and found chiros no good as they spent five minutes manipulating joints but paid no heed to muscles which were pulling everything back where it was. I also tried accupuncture, accupressure and physio.

Got dragged down to this guy years ago by a friend and he is amazing. I was so crooked I could barely walk without being sore. He does a combination of deep massage, spinal manipulation, cranio sacral therapy and scenar therapy

Had a bit of a prob years ago - decided to try a few different things for the craic just to see what worked in case of more serious stuff in the future

Chiropractic looper started on with the voodoo talk and wanted to do "adjustments" before the subluxationz took over the planet and boiled your kids and and

    - thx but no thx heres your few quid

Osteo/whatever ( same as in your post ) just poked around a little and said he wasn't the man for the job but would do a bit if i really wanted - no voodoo talk

Go to a good physio, they can refer you on to an orthopaedic specialist if you need it.

Chiros are quacks who I had the misfortune of working with years ago. Never again! they just want to take your cash by manipulating you into thinking they can help you.
