Hi there, I'm thinking about taking up running, was reading a few threads on this and everyone knows their distance ran, speed, etc. I was wondering what is the best device to record this on? As in is it some sort of watch or?

Smartphone with GPS works pretty well.

If you've a smartphone download the MapMyRun or Strava apps.

    I mostly just use a treadmill :o
Or if I'm out I'll plot the route and keep an eye on time
My old ipod doesn't take to these fancy newfangled apps

It'd be fine if itunes would let older versions of apps be sold!

Get thee to the typewriter and compose a strongly-worded letter.

thanks for the replies. I have a smart phone but id rather not bring it with me if possible. I was wondering if theres some sort of a watch or something you can wear on your arm, just something basic and cheap? thanks

You can use Map MyRun on the computer, as opposed to the app, and work out the distance of the route you're going to run. Then just use a cheapo stopwatch to time your run.
