Choose an optician you want her to attend, get an application form from them, fill it in and send it to your local HSE office for approval. When they send it back make your appointment. She can get free glasses within a certain price range, or use her allowance towards a more expensive pair.

Nope that is not correct. Anybody under the age of 16 even with a medical in their own name cannot use the medical card the same as an adult for optical benefit. The reason being is that the county clinic offers this service to under 16's i.e. Free eye test and allowance the same as the medical card towards glasses which can be used in any optician once they accept medical cards. To avail of this service you have to register your child through your GP.

Went to specsaver and another one today and all they said was she has to be over 16, never said anything about going to the gp. Do any one know any optician in cork, will go to gp about it.
