    Tell them is fecked.
They will try to charge you all sorts from call out charge to equipment costs.
Assuming you are out of minimum contract period, just tell them to put you through to cancellations as you are not paying for new equipment or call out and are happy to cancel whole package.
Stock to this line and you will come away with free new box with no callout charge.

Just bought a hd+ wifi box 2nd hand but in perfect condition. A simple phone call to sky to pair box with viewing card and that's that. No monthly increase and get Rte 2 hd and on demand for nothing.

Yeah think I'll just ring them first anyway and ask and if they are going to charge I'll cancel it and put the bill on a different name.

I had the old sky plus box over 8 years and had also opted to have my original own sky dish removed and wired to a communal satellite dish in the apartment block. Those communal dish things are not associated with sky. Upshot is, I wanted to have my own dish again, plus a new sky plus HD box.
I contacted sky and thought I was going to have to fork out for not just the new HD box, but the blasted aerial too. They were able to tell me that I could get the lot done, my bill would be about €7 dearer per month for a year. I don't know if it was a running offer - I didn't think I'd be entitled to any offer being a customer already. This was all in about February I think. So now I have the HDbox, new sat dish and with my own broadband (I'm under contract with vodafone, so sky's own broadband was not an option) I get access to the 'on demand' stuff.

By any chance did you just ask them how much the sky plus hd box was? Because I know that to 'buy' a box, just like that, has a price, but what you are looking for is to upgrade your subscription to HD. Then they just supply the box. I think....
Oh well - that's my story there, hope it helps!!

    Well you were warned.
Did you ask for cancellation department and attempt to cancel?

Asked for cancellation department after writing my message here, after ending up getting the hd box for free and all hd channels for 7.50 extra a month for 12 months not bad.
