Just wondering if there is any plan to meet in the park this summer? I'd be on for it- was good fun last time round.

I'd be up for this one. Quick spin down the road for me :)

Do it on a Monday or Wednesday and I'm there!

I'd be up for it :) Show off the new wheels :D

Yeah I'll show the face if it goes ahead, seems like a nice place to have one, I can leave my commitments for one night :pac:

No diesel car anymore, so I haven't a clue what I'd turn up in... Or on. Maybe a pogo stick or a unicycle (anyone got a lend of either?)

If it's next month I might have my new old car ready for that. Key word is might :pac:

    When are we thinking?

    Last Wednesday in July?
Mid week is good for these city centre ones, less activity.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,289 ✭✭✭Veloce

Towards the end of July would be a good call. Wed or Thurs probably the best. I'm only around the corner so I've no excuses!

Will we get a list going so or wait until people come back if their free or not?

    *Provisional Date* Wednesday 30th July

I would have thought the Big Port Laois meet would be around then? I will wait and see whats happening over the July month before putting my name down.

    Ah go on!
I can never make weekend meets and I wanna see the Chaser! :p

I too would prefer a larger Portlaoise meet myself, I can't see myself heading to Dublin for one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,721 ✭✭✭✭CianRyan

This is by no means meant to replace the Midway meet, rather it's a Dublin thing.
Last one we had was great, we all stood in the rain for hours and some American cars scared me and I fell over.

Ah I know yeah but would it not be better to have a Midway meet mid-ish July and regional whenever after that?

If it's on Thursday or Friday I'll bring scratchy!

Why not just have the big one in August, why mess with the date of a meet you have no intension of turning up to?

I read there some issues at the last one. The Phoenix Park meet last year was very enjoyable though and I didn't recall any issues such as theft of signposts or careless driving.

There seems to be a bit of interest for this one - if it's a runner then a mod can approve the meeting. If not, no hassle.

So bull**** like sticking NCPS stickers on cars, parking like an arse, speeding, blocking car park spaces with bollards, driving up onto grass areas, making fun of people etc is ok?

Just asking as most of this has occurred at any midway meets I've been at, and has been perpetrated by users other than me.

(not specifically directed at you, Ybfocus btw. General statement after the treatment I was given last time)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,480 ✭✭✭YbFocus

Nope none of that is ok man, i have taken part in some of them in the heat of the moment at midway, speeding being my confession. I reckon that these meetings take on a better image now that we are almost all carrying boards identification.

This is definitely ok and even encouraged if it's Metzgermeister it's aimed at! :pac:

Lads asking if messing is allowed, may stop this going ahead. I don't think any of us going will want messing to happen at it, especially after what happened the last time.

I wasn't asking if messing was allowed.
    Obviously.

I was making the point that it was always disallowed, yet always occurred. But if we are going to start persecuting people for it then it'd better be the same across the board.

They're around the park regular and the head office is a stones throw away. You'd want to be a Wally.

There's always good natured banter and craic at a meet and some p1ss taking too.
That's cool but what's not cool is people acting the dick.

If someone has to ask what is / isn't allowed they shouldn't be at a meet IMO.

That last meet in the park was almost two years back IIRC and a great event. The rules are basic, just like boards.ie rules. Craic and banter are welcome but don't act the dick.
