Rent Allowance Question

    Hello,

I was wandering if someone can help me on my situation to rent an apartment with the rent allowance but it is to hard to find someone who accept someone who is supplement welfare and looking for the rent allowance but after reading some of the comments, I noticed that the social workers did not mentioned to get my name on the liste of the housing list they just gave me the rent allowance form to fil it by the landlord.

I would like to know if I have a chance to have something to rent as I am very sick ( big pain coming from the lower back down to my knee), I have tried many doctors in different countries, made scans, MRI's but nothing is shown and the pain still there.
I am married and living with my brothers one bedroom appt, knowing that he is married and have a 20month baby boy and also I am married and just had a baby boy this 3rd June 2014 and I have no where to go I just have the supplement welfare payment by post each week that is all I have.

My pain is still worse to get back to work as I have to take pain killers every 3 to 4 hours never have a good night sleep and on the top having a baby.

The appt is the main problem that I do have for my family and specially for the newborn so is there any chance that the social helps me as I was told on the phone they can do nothing for me??
Is there any chance to rent something on my own than send it to the rent allowance department?

    Thank you for your help.

    Sincerely,
    Lyes.

Sorry to hear about your health problems.

Why did the people you spoke to say that they could do nothing for you?

About rent allowance: Are you on your local council's housing list? If you are not, I would suggest you telephone or better yet, call around to your local council office, and speak to someone in the housing department. You will usually need to be on the housing list (you would have to have your housing need assessed by completing a housing list application) to access a rent allowance payment. So I would suggest you start there.

It will ask you on the form about where you live and who you live with, so they should notice that you are currently living in overcrowded conditions, but do bring it to their attention anyway.

It is difficult to find a landlord who will accept rent allowance recipients. I don't know where you live now, but you may have to look outside the cities to find somewhere suitable.

I hope things improve for you soon.
