If you wanted to do a fresh install to factory setting from restore disks and first made an image of the current disk, would you be reinstalling any registry problems as well? I see you would

If you create an image you create an identical copy of everything you have now (including the registry) when you install using that image you would be copying everything back (including the registry).

If you install from a restore disk you would go back to the way it was when you got it. They are separate things.
