Anyone know anything about the Alitalia A330 EI-EJJ flight that came in to Dublin today? Flight number was AZ9470 and it came in from Rome FCO.

It was surrounded by Gardaí and Defense forces on arrival at T2 and departed shortly after with with Aer Corps helicopters alongside the runway. I also noticed on Flight Radar two PC9s doing laps not far off, although I'm not sure if that's related...

Probably was the most heavily guarded flight I've seen more so than the usual euro note flights.

    Bailout 2.

Michael Noonan primed to address the nation on the 9 O'clock news.

Or not. Sounds a bit too plausible now that I read it back.

It's not unusual. In the past they have used Cargo Italia / Alitalia MD11s and another operator using 767s. Always a big presence of Gardai and the defence forces although I don't recall ever seeing such an air support as you describe. Always a very quick and efficient offload and turnaround...

The air corps also provided helicopter cover as the notes were delivered to the Central Bank mint in Sandyford.

Ah that makes sense.....I was in a park near Terenure and was wondering what the reason was for all the choppers. I spotted a Garda and an Aer Corps one, was pretty sure I heard another EC135 too.

That makes sense, I saw two helicopters in Ashtown around 3.20, would that have been right?
