Bird Dropping marked paint

    Hi Guys,

Quick question - My mums 2013 Golf got the biggest Bird Dropping I have ever seen yesterday morning - I got home at 3 pm and immediately washed it. Without being too graphic is had gone crusty and I I thouroghly rinsed it off with the power hose.

However it seems to have marred the paint?

I have some light compound at home and applied it gently however the paint is no silky smooth to touch but it's like the paint has reacted with the bird dropping?

Don't have pictures however I have never seen this type of damage before?

Any ideas what I could do to treat it?

    Thanks in advance,

    Ryan

It has etched the clear coat. Machine polishing will probably be required if a light polish hasnt done anything to it.

Cheers I'll arrange to get it done - Car is non Metallic VW Golf - Urano Grey -

Shocked that the paint was damaged in the space of a few hours!

If it was really sunny out, it can happen faster than you think

All you need to know about the damage that bird poo does to your paint, from Mike Phillips:

Same thing happened to my car, (Similar poo by the sounds of it.) it took a few rounds of Autoglym Super Resin polish to get it back looking acceptable.

baking it on is the killer here. At the same time, the car got regular "white" bird poo, and that washed off no probs. but the brown, crusty poo left an etch on the clearcoat.

In this heat, get it off with lots of water on a saturated microfiber cloth that you let sit on the panel (this also cools it down).

Considering keeping something in the boot for other occasions as I was lucky this time.

Reading this made me take my dung covered car down to power hose it. No markings on mine but I also did herselfs car and sure enough, it's etched it.

I was the same with the gf's car.
    No etching thankfully.
