Has anybody else's insurance premium gone way up in 2014?

My renewal came through the post, rang them up to ask if that was defiantly the best price was told absolutely. Went on their website and got a quote e80 cheaper, rand them back, oh yes we can do it for that price. No nonsense.ie. The renewal was cheaper than last year though.

I don't see any point putting in a claim if your damaged/wrecked car is a banger and it meant losing your NCB.

Would anyone else agree with that?

Im sure they would, but when you damage someone else`s car or property, it wont be your choice not to claim.

ditched them on the spot, and after signing up with AXA got an email with quote that was e7 lower than offered by AXA

275 last year, 605 this year with them as well. Having a laugh they are.

    To follow up on this......

Spent a while ringing up companies for quotes.

I've tried: AXA, Allianz, AIG, Aviva, 123.ie, Chill, Liberty, FBD, One Direct and Zurich.

The honour of most expensive quote goes to Liberty with a staggering €889 for TPFT

But surprisingly Aviva gave the lowest quote, with €355.

So even being a jump from €272 last year to €355, I'm happy enough considering original renewal was €625 from 123.ie and many on here saying all premiums have gone up.
AA might be worth a try, might work out cheaper to purchase membership+ins....

That's why I said "your damaged or wrecked car"

    Obviously not theirs

Lads, just went over from 123 to AA. The bloke said he wants the no claims bonus emailed to him and said that it should be on the renewal email I got from 123. I can't see anything about my no claims on 123's renewal email, just the cost of the new premium and how to contact them to pay it etc.

Should I just forward this email to AA and they get the no claims bonus details from it somehow? Is that what they actually want?

Should be an attachment in the email with the new policy.

No claims is on the 4th page iirc

I got a pdf attachment in their renewal invitation email.

The NCD details document was on page 5 of the pdf.

Mine went up this year (renewal was on my Skoda) with Britton's insurance, up to €950 from €600 last year - and that was fully comp on an e60 535d. 50% increase from a 535d to a Skoda Superb? Ridiculous.

Got a quote of €680 from Liberty, called them and got it down to €608. Went with that.

What do you reckon Cleve? Is that thing above what they're looking for?

In my experience insurance companies don't accept emails as proof of NCB. You get a cert of NCB with your renewal offer and in my experience this letter is all the other companies will accept.

He said all he wanted was the email and 123 don't post out renewal letters (at least they never have to me), just emails.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,498 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

If you didn't get a hard copy of your NCB schedule in the post then it maybe attached to the email usually in the shape of a .PDF file. I'd imagine that they will want a copy of that .PDF file.

    Aviva renewal: 898

Rang them up, got it down to: 670

    Quote from AIG: 599

Polietely told Aviva I won't be renewing. I'll keep shopping and ring a few brokers to see if I can get it down any further.

123 cost me 358 last year but went up to 480.

I've gone with AA this time for 414.

Just email 123 and get them to send you your NCB. That's what I did, just email this to your new insurance company with your driver licence scan and you'll be good to go.

€430 fully comp on a TDI Golf, cheaper than last year so happy enough with it.

Over25.ie. Its4women.ie. presume they have other names too. Policy with AIG. By far the cheapest this year. Seems AIG are chasing market share.

I used over25.ie to get a quote. A few days later I got an email from them with a €30 off code that brought my fully comp with step back on a 1.8 petrol to under €300. With windscreen cover and a few other bits.
