    Hi all,

We have a Ford Galaxy in for NCT this week. We don't have the two back seats in as we don't use them. Do they need to go in for the NCT ?

    Nah, should be fine.

I think you will need them as the VLC will say 7 seats so they will need to inspect 7 seatbelt points and seats to pass it.

If the seatbelts rollers are installed on the pillars and the receivers are on the seats it would fail.

Might be a good idea to just put the seats in for the test would be a bummer to fail for somthing like that.

This is the test manual, it's doesn't mention number of seats.

We put our Land Rover Discovery 3 through the NCT last year with the two back seats folded into the floor and it passed the NCT but it had a comment saying 2 seats not present.

Had nearly the same. VW Touran 7seater, last year, seats folded, passed, no notice.

Same with S-Max last April, both seats folded down - no comment

    Not true.

Any seats not installed will be noted on the results sheet (or ignored altogether, depending on the tester) - that's it.

It does state test all seats though, if the vehicle is meant to have 7 seats then I'd imagine the tester will look to test 7 seats

    1. Examine all seats and seat mountings for security and condition

Nope! If the rear seats aren't fitted, its not a problem. It will come up on the reoprt as an advisory item

    Seats-no seats fitted-offside rear advisory
Seats-no seats fitted -nearside rear advisory

    That's all.

If the seat is not there, it can't be tested. They can only test all the seats that are there.

Sorry for the bump, am putting the X-trail through the NCT later on today, was wondering should I put the rear two small seats up or leave them folded into the floor of the boot - any recent experience with it or its baby brother, the Qashqai+2?
