Next on the shopping list is a Tedder. I'm leaning towards a 5-6m 4 rotor Tedder at the min.
Most of the swarths here are 8ft with the occasional 10ft. What are the main differences with the two tedders other than width. The 4 rotor surely would be easier to road transport as to it being lighter and less chance of it slapping on the arms.
Would the 6 rotor be weak at its two edge rotors as I notice that the Tedder does bow a bit when lifted up compared to the 4 rotor.

I've a second hand 6 rotor lely stabilo andvits a super yoke to throw out grass.tip along in first gear and I'll throw out 3 ten foot swarths at ease .their pricy new though at over 14 k.i picked mibe up for 3.5 k.its a 1998 machine imported from holland.it was well minded and gets well greased before every use.when buying secobd hand check all the rotors for play as bearings could be going .dobt know what weight it is but I have a 105 hp new holland and it lifts it no bother, folds up nicely and no issue with transportation .i could of bought a newer 4 rotor for a bit more money but glad I didn't as with the extra 2 rotors your covering more ground and burning less diesel

The way they hang down on outside rotors is part of the design to ensure they can cover uneven ground properly, ie the outside can drop down into a hollow

Ah I see, that explains that

Yeah I'll be probably buying off the same fella you did over the winter. Always end up looking at a 6 rotor and saying "jaysus that's high" when it's lifted but on the other hand if you were to go into a large field I guess you would be damn glad of the extra 2 rotors:D

Noted that from photos alright. They seem to be a fair width. Nearly as bad as going down the road with the square baler

6 meter Kuhn here, folds up as tidy as the 4 rotor. 1 ton weight. What I see about the wider machine is that if you need to travel slower in the field you are still getting a big area covered. Think it's worth spending the few extra quid for the width.
They're easy drive, I was driving mine in the 1000 box with tractor just ticking over, (125 hp)

Yeah a few lads were telling me to run my rake on 1000 speed rather than 540. Probably the job
