Paddy Power Stunt

Paddy Power appear to have chopped down a portion of the rainforest as marketing stunt.

While it has already got them attention, I think in this case, if it turns out to be true, I think it will mean that there is such a thing as bad publicity.

I think it's atrocious, but perhaps only because I think they should know better.

Perhaps CGI.
If not, just land that will be stripped bare for grazing & cash crops within days anyway.

Deforesting into shapes forming letters matters little when the Brazilian gov strip millions of acres every year..... fancy letters or not.

But probably photoshopped.

Paddy Power are a despicable group.

Their facebook page reads like a 16 year old bully owns it. The Oscar Pistorious stunt was disgusting.

Dressing up as the grim reaper and following David Moyes around was also in poor taste. Add to the fact that they have a questionable record on paying out, and they are just to be avoided.

Thanks for the heads up. Disappointing to see that a gambling company is not as ethical as I would have expected.

That just means that the image itself hasn't been manipulated.. doesn't mean it's not fake.

For example it could be photoshop'd, printed out and another picture taken of that printout.

I suppose I was just considering whether it would be wrong, which I think it would be, if it was and why it would be rather than a question of it being real in itself.

Like someone pointed out, millions of acres are destroyed a year - but I don't think that would make something like this any less wrong.

Suppose even though I can see why it wouldn't be, it just seems seedy to me.

Don't fret.

Simply place your bets online rather than in their shops. That way you will save the planet by not using paper betting slips.


It's obviously fake anyway. It would cost a fair few bob to cut those trees down in such a manner. And PP are noted for cheap publicity.

No way would they spend money on something like this when there is lots of potential to pull off something better for sod all.
