Getting eircom D1000 router to work with Vodafone?

I got an eircom Zyxel D1000 DSL router in Harvey Norman and trying to configure it with a Vodafone DSL connection.

I have reset the router and by default it is configured for Eircom's broadband service. I changed the username to vodafone@vodafone.ie and the password to broadband. Clicked apply changes and did a reboot but it failed to connect to the internet.

If I reboot it eventually the DSL light stays steady and the internet connection stays red. If I configure it with a TP-Link router it connects to the internet perfectly.

I have tried connecting it directly to the main telephone socket but it doesn't make a difference.

    Am I missing anything?

    Thanks

    Set to PPPoE yes?
    MTU 1492?

VPI/VCI should be the same. No reason why it cant work.

Yep, weird. I tried it without the filter and removed everything else from the line.

Vodafone said it might take 30 minutes to connect? I gave up once it went red.

Do you know if Eircom lock down routers? I was able to change the provider.

If all fails, I can always put the TP Link in bridge mode.

Nah, only sky lock theirs down.

Its totally doable. The BRASs can be slow. Set it up, let it sync(sold DSL) and go red and then leave it sit for 10 minutes.

BTW once DSL is solid none of the wiring matters, its a digital issue.

Thanks Ed, managed to get it going by waiting. It seems that you have to navigate to a website before the light will go from Red to Green.

It's set to always on, so hopefully it will stay working now :)
