I'm in the process of buying a new router, and was thinking to buy something future-proof.

I found this one: Speedport W724V
    http://www.connect.de/testbericht/speedport-w-724v-im-test-1532626.html

It would cost me 120 euro and it basically supports everything, including 802.11ac and VDSL2.

It's sold in Germany, but being that it supports annex a it should work as well here in Ireland. Right?

    What do you think?

I have the ASUS RT-AC68U bridged from the vodafone Huawei HG658c.
    Excellent bit of kit
komplett.ie do the AC66U and the AC68U cheaper than amazon.
Check out the Asus site to see what they can do.

I got an apple time capsule and the speeds over wireless ac are superb. Gigabit lan speeds are good and having a few terabytes available for backup is handy!

ASUS have just released a DSL version of the AC68U, I imagine it will be very expensive

The user interface will be in German on that if that's a problem.

I stand to be corrected but I think Eircom use Annex B for VDSL2.

Got one of these today. Living in rural Tipp, and had a 2MB connection with Eircom until last week. Vodafone rang me and suggested I could be getting up to 4MB. Rang Eircom and told them, to which they replied "Yeah, looks like you could be", and upped it to 4MB there and then. Pity they didn't tell me that a year ago! However, sync speed @ 4096 kbps wasn't reliable, and it dropped until it settled at 3488kbps down/ 384kbps.

After getting the ASUS and tinkering with the settings this evening (specifically DSL noise margin adjustments) to +3db, I was able to hit a stable 4096kbps during the day dropping to 3840kbps at night.
So best case, I'm getting a 15% bump in sync speed, and worst case (so far) I'm still getting a 10% bump. YMMV with vary with lowesr attenuation values. Using the Eircom D1000 my attenuation down was 54.5dB, but the ASUS is reporting 63.5dB which I reckon is a probably just a firmware bug. (I'm running 3.0.0.4.376_2050)
