Why fibre- VDSL doesn't reach apartments?

Last summer (2013) my provider (vodafone) sent me 2-3 messages stating that fibre connection was being installed in the area (I live in Swords, on the main road). Still after months fibre is not available on the block of my apartments (not with vodafone or eircom or any other provider).

AFAIK, the houses near my apartments got fibre.
Does anyone knows why they do not connect apartments to fiber connection?

    Most likely things are
    • The developer did an exclusivity deal with magnet/other
    • The apartments are direct fed or fed through their own basement cab

    Thanks for the reply.
Not sure about the first in my case, since I can choose between Eircom and Vodafone (formerly BT) and Magnet, and some other crappy service.
Moreover Eircom offers me the adsl (up to 24mb) but not the fiber. Same goes with Vodafone and Magnet.
UPC do not serve the apartments. Even Smart telecom doesn't serve here.

In case it's the second, is there anything that can be done?

    Take a look at

    http://www.eircomwholesale.ie/Our_Network/

and select NGA FIBRE BROADBAND NETWORK

Zooming in to Swords Main Street I see there is one cab that is still being worked on, just North of The Pavilions. Maybe you are being served by that?

Thank you very much for the link.
Actually there's one orange (so planned..) right above my block of apartment.
Do you know by chance if this map is 100% reliable?

It's what eircom wholesale have released publicly, so I'd say it's as good as you'll find.

Do you know if the owners have full control of the owner's management company of the apartments (rather than the developer)? You may be able to talk to a director of the OMC and see if there are issues with installing the VDSL cabinet. If you are a tenant you may have to ask your landlord to pursue them (the OMC) on this.

Eircom Wholesale seem good about keeping it updated. Its very likely you're on that cab so, just means its a waiting game. Though if its delayed and the fibre build crew have moved onto the next deployment area it might be a while.
