You'd get a decent yaris for that money.

A sirion can be got for that budget too.

    I'd sooner have a €3000 sirion than a €3000 yaris
    They're savage value.

They are great value but I'd still take a mk1 yaris over one. IMO the mk1 Yaris is a far better car than the mk2 that replaced it. The 4 cylinder 1.0 unit in the mk1 is a superior engine to the 3 cylinder unit the mk2, which is not only less refined but less reliable also. The sirion is pretty much the same car as these.

Granted the one I posted is a 1.3 though.

get yourself an old 90's civic, somthing like a 96-99 shouldnt be too dear, they last forever and are cheap to fix, the money u save on repairs will more than make up for the extra cost in tax for a 1.3

Great cars but hard to get a good one at this stage, especially for under a grand.

@op, if you can up your budget just the tiniest bit here is a very nice VW Lupo with an interesting history!

I see this one has been reduced to €700. Bargain if it's any good.

The problem with the 206 is the peddles, they are very close to each other. Could be chronic for you if you have rather large feet. You may have to look at the next class up, like a Focus, Corolla, Astra, etc.
