New to driving a diesel car and would like to stick to one source as I hear about lots of low quality diesel
Why have I heard Topaz metioned a lot as being the best?

I'm also interested to hear responses on this or are the rumours true ?

I wouldn't worry too much about it in regards to Topaz/Maxol/Texaco.
It's the fly by night stations that advertise low fuel prices etc that are selling washed diesel etc that I'd avoid. A few pence saved isn't worth the price of my engine failing as a result of crap diesel/petrol etc.
As such I only always fill from the international brands etc.
I know Topaz do strict checks etc on their stations and I'd assume other major oil companies would do the same.

Stick with main brand stations and you can't go far wrong.

Over the last year Iv generally brimmed the car then run until its empty (i fill often enough with that!), iv found little/no difference between topaz, texaco, top and maxol. If i was pushed id actually put Topaz last & Top first but the gap is its so small it wouldnt be worth going out of your way

There was a topaz in north munster for years. I heard that they were buying their diesel from a local source and they lost the franchise. They're great gas now. Dunno how true it is. You'd imagine topaz would know from their figures if theis franchisees were using different sources.

Are those the ones that there's no shop/attendant at? I've seen a few of those and wondered exactly how they work. I presume its credit card only and you specify the amount of fuel you want before pumping it?

My car loves Maxol lots more than any other. More power, more mpg.
Big difference I've noticed and watched over a long period.
To the point I buy nothing else now!

Maxol unleaded is 99 octane I think.

I mainly use Texaco pumps and I've no horror stories to report!

Does some of it leak into the diesel :)

If you want to be sure that you re getting top quality diesel that isn't washed. . Then green is the way to go.

No it's the ones that look like they were setup overnight, have no branding and are usually a lot cheaper per litre than regular branded fuel.

What you are describing are unmanned prepay/self service filling stations which some of the more familiar branded fuel companies are using. The equipment used in these setups is actually expensive so very unlikely to be used by chancers selling dodgy fuel.

Topaz is usually where I refill, unless I'm out of town or have no other option. It's handy as it has the 24 hour pump, with the credit card thing.

The best quality diesel is farmers wine with a shot of machine oil.
