if you just want broadband only get vodafone simply broadband max, its a upto 100mb package with upto 20mb upload speed and pings down as low as 8-12ms for 35 euro a month

im synced at 50/15 due to distance from street cab and get the following speeds

OP, good broadband can only really be achieved by a landline, mobile isn't really broadband by any internationally accepted definition. That said, being on the Cork/Kerry border and probably in a rural area you will probably not get the service described in the previous post.

Another wireless service is Wi-Max e.g. http://www.imagine.ie/offer/ see if they cover your area.

I've played competitive FPS on something slightly better. It is a struggle, that I know only too well.

when I lived in the sticks I could only get 1.5Mbps so 4.5 is a lot better!

Recently signed up to meteors mobile network, I'm in east Limerick just at the outer limit of their 4g network going by their map. Getting varying speeds from 14mbps to 25, best from my landline was 3.4mbps due to distance from exchange. Contract has a 30gb limit but is sufficient for me.

I have that Imagine thingy for years.

They have upped their contention rates over the last few months, and the speeds are horrific.

You can see from the attachment what I have to put up with over most weekends. And I never ever get more than 3MB down.

I can't wait to get rid of it once my contract is up in a few months.

OP, have a look at irelandoffline.org and see what's available in your area. But to be honest, it's not great what you are getting at the moment, but it's bot the worst. Ive played Battlefield on worse, with pings of 80-100.

Latency is the big thing over download speed when it comes to your online gaming. Lower latency, cleaner gaming.

It depends on your location ....... there are "fixed wireless" providers in the area, one of which is Permanet, some of which might be able to provide reasonable connection speed and ping.
