Ketosis after carbs

I'm heading to my girlfriends house this weekend meeting her parents for the first time (which is daunting enough :(). I've been on ketosis for a few months and when I head up i'm going to be handed a plate of spuds and carb heavy foods, i'd rather not make a fuss over it since I don't want to be labelled as the awkward one who won't eat anything after just meeting them.

Is there any way I could stay in ketosis after eating a large amount of carbs? Would doing heavy cardio afterwards make my body burn off the carbs I just ate?

    Thanks for advice!

Seriously doubt it. Most likely you'll be having a carb dominant feed while staying there. Is it really that big a deal? Can you not just come out of ketosis for a few days?

If you are cutting carbs for weight loss, in my experience eating some carbs and then returning to low/no carb can actually boost your losses.

Thanks for the replies, was just worried after the way I felt getting into ketosis the first time, really didn't want to go through that groggy feeling for another week like last time! I'm really using the ketosis for my epilepsy as opposed to weight loss, the weight loss is just a nice bonus :)

If you're on a keto diet, a high carb day is often recommended and, for reasons beyond my knowledge, can apparently help your overall ketogenic diet.
