The rematch announced for 06.09.14 in Belfast

Venue to be announced but talk of an outdoor venue so possible venues like casement park, obviously won't rival froch vs groves 2, however Really looking forward if this fight

When the venue is confirmed, hopefully soon but talk of 20,000 capacity venue

    Great to hear this.

I'll try to get to that one.

Forgot about Ravenhill that's the more likely option

Is Kiko off his head or what? He could have made a couple of more voluntary defences and made a few more bob, meanwhile allowing Carl to bag a belt and used this as a unification fight to earn even more? He'll be taken apart (earlier than before IMO) and won't be back at top level again either.

Barry must have thrown a shed load of cash at him.

Indeed. The first fight was a great scrap. The first few rds were very testing and dangerous for Carl. He cannot afford to be complacent and take Kiko lightly. Couple of flush shots can turn a fight. I think it's safe to say that Kiko will be around for 5-6 rds here. Stamina was a problem for Kiko in fight 1. If he can improve his strength and stamina he could really push Carl all the way, and survive the later rds and dangerous Frampton attacks.

Presser taking place at Titanic Quarter so a good guess would be Bazza's gonna set up a temporary venue there on the site.

Ive never been to a fight in Belfast. Was thinking of bringing the auld fella, the last fight we were at was a while back now, must have been the Bernard Dunne scrap vrs the little Thai lad.

Whats Belfast like for a fight, any hassle along sectarian lines? Cant be arsed with that **** if the old boy is coming along.

Great fight for FRampton to get hold of a strap. Like to see him unify vs LSC or Quigg down the road.

I remember in the last fight how much I thought Kiko had improved and only a round or so before the truely one-punch finish, I remember being quite worried as I thought Kiko was really coming on and Carl was having more difficulty keeping him off, so suffice to say I don't agree with you on Kiko having stamina issues at all.

Watch it again. Kiko noticeably was draining mid to later rds. Carl was tagging him cleaner and was draining him. I think I am off a bit. Kiko needs to be a little more conservative. He needs to not be overly busy. Fight 1 saw him got hell for leather for any rds. So it's more stamina management than raw stamina issues.

Frampton is certainly getting all the breaks...Twice now he will have faced Kiko on home ground.

I took your advice and watched it again.

I have to say - I was right. The commentary team had Frampton winning the first 5 and Kiko 6,7 & 8. I had the same except the 2nd even.

In the 8th, which I thought was Kiko's best round in the fight, there were comments like "reckless (Frampton)", "Martinez looking busier", "Martinez looking very strong", "Frampton needs something to slow Martinez down", "Martinez non-stop".

I think it was after 6 or 7 rounds they showed punch stats, which showed Frampton had thrown over twice as many punches as Kiko and also landed over twice as many.

The only thing I forgot was in round 9, Frampton landed more clean punches than any other round and rattled Kiko a few times before the actual finish.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 57,358 ✭✭✭✭walshb

But what Did Kiko look like come rds 7, 8 and 9? I thought he seemed to be puffing hard. Maybe I need to watch it again.

Anyway, if goes to show that Carl cannot afford to be in any way complacent. Kiko is dangerous, full of fight and capable of hurting.

I'm in total agreement, I think it's anything but the foregone conclusion many seem to think it is.

I think a hard-fought points win for Frampton is the most likely result.

I have to agree this is a coin flip. I was very impressed with how much kiko had improved the first time they met. I actually taught he had Frampton in serious trouble at one point such was the pressure he was putting on him. To be fair to Frampton he met the aggression head on and stood his ground but it was very delicately balanced at one stage and could easily have gone against him. I would expect Kiko will be a lot more confident this time around and he will known full well that he has the ability to get to Frampton, the question is wether he can get to him before Frampton gets into his groove.

    An intriguing contest.

Carl was not his usual cool self at the weigh in for this, really looking forward to this fight.

Kiko is always good value for money

Really looking forward to this, should be a cracking contest. Hard to split them to be honest but I was very impressed with the improvements in Kiko the last time they fought and I think he just has that little bit more. Martinez seems to thrive in the atmosphere and the experience he has gained from his title win (and defences) will stand to him no end.

At 4-1 for a Martinez win I cant help but think the bookies are simply balancing their books but this looks amazing value. At 25-1 for the draw you could also do worse!

The Living Room has box nation. Or whatever the place is in the smoking area. O'Connell St.

Without getting into the old debate, Carls wiki page says representing Ireland but then says British boxer. Anyone know what he considers himelf?

The Boxing Arena that is being built is going to deliver an iconic venue by the looks of the pictures! Let's hope the weather is good for the fans, we get a similar fight and result from the last time.

he boxed for ireland but he's from tigers bay whice is an orange area, from what I've seen boxing up here is real cross community.
this piece sums it up nicely http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/boxing/28973146

    A Super-Bantamweight I think.

I'm heading up to this one tomorrow, seriously psyched for it aswell. All-ireland final the next day too.....could be a fantastic weekend or a ****ing nightmare.

Reckon Carl will have too much for him. Yes Kiko has imrpoved, but I believe Carl has too. The one thing Carl has that Romero, Mathebula and Hasegawa is World Class power, Kiko could simply walk through those guys and wear them down with his aggressive approach. Now he'll try to do that to Carl aswell, but Carl can fight much better than any of those on the inside and has the potential to hurt Kiko, he's also probably able to take a better shot than any of them aswell (as evidenced by the first fight).
It's a dangerous fight, Kiko could knock out anyone in the division who he catches, but I reckon The Jackal comes through with flying colours again.

    Also......H'on the Premier ! :D

Can we not just leave out this sh!t please. All you'll do is attract the gobsh!tes who never post here for any other topic, but suddenly show up with their pathetic views (see the Paddy Barnes podium non-event for proof).

Who cares if Frampton is Irish or British, does it make one jot of difference??

How many of us will be following Tyson Fury, Chris Eubank Jr, Anthony Joshua, David Haye, Carl Froch...etc

Are we boxing fans or political bigots??

** Frampton is due to walk to the ring at about 10.20pm - Pending on prior fight outcomes of course **

Kiko has improved from the last meeting, I think this will be a very tough fight but expect Carl to come out on top. UD.

If Framton can take the early heat, and if he knows he can, then expect him to start attacking and pressing Kiko a lot earlier than the first fight. Carl by rd 6. Kiko is always value for money, but he isn't near great. All he has on Carl is possible one punch power.

    Who is on The undercard

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 57,358 ✭✭✭✭walshb

    Who is on The undercard

Jamie Conlan, Conrad Cummings, Eamon O'Kane as far as I know.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,711 ✭✭✭Joeseph Balls

Lads, cool the jets. I asked a question as i seen conflicting info when looking up Carls wiki. I havn't followed Carl up until his first win over Kiko so have no knowledge of his career before that bar scanning threads here It said Represents Ireland, then said British boxer. I got a genuine reply and thanked it. Left it at that.

Limerick blow, I am far from a political bigot, thanks, and if you had seen my previous posts on Fury, Macklin, Barnes etc you would know that:rolleyes:

    Who is on The undercard

O'Kane and McCullough, Conlan too i think.

Ah ya it does. I support my own more than someone else. Thats like saying who cares who wins tomorrow between Georgia and Ireland. As an Irish person i hope Ireland wins so of course it matters where they are from. What a stupid question
