Bringing a tent on Ryanair

    Hi all,

Heading to Creamfields festival in august and camping there for the festival! Just wondering what would be the best way to bring our tent over? Should we check in a 15kg suitcase and put it in that or could we bring it in our hand luggage? Tried looking online but can't seem to find a definitive answer, saw something about the poles not being allowed in the hand luggage! Flying Ryanair btw - cork to Liverpool!

Thanks in advance for any advice :)

We usually check in a big rucksack and put the tent in that, you'll be able to fit more stuff around it and clip on sleeping bags and stuff to the bag.

Did Download in 2012/13 and what we did was get a check in bag between 3 of us and throw in tent poles as well as miscellaneous stuff that wouldn't fit in hand luggage. Was very successful both times! Can't remember if we opted for 15 or 20kg though.

Depending on how many of you are going and how good your tent is you may be as well not to bring it and pick one up in Asda or somewhere like that instead.

I'm off to V again this summer but luckily have friends in the UK that I'm going with and they bring the tent!

It's not the poles that would worry me, it's the pegs. They may consider them "dangerous" enough to take them off you.
Just weight your potential luggage between all of you and decide on weight of check-in to purchase that way.
