Anyone have magnet broadband in Lusk?

I've tried all service providers, the most I found was UPC tell me they can only give me 25mb.

Then I rang Magnet, they tell me they can give me FatPipe 100MB... Sounds to good to be

true, anyone any experience with them in the area?

    Cheers

stay clear of them, what they tell you and do are two different things, and its upto 100mb ;)

utter useless company, just do a search on the forums and youll see theres nothing good or care free about them

if magnets telling you theres 100mb in the area then you can get it from the following, eircom, vodafone, digiweb, magnet. the last 3 only resell eircoms efiber product

    cheers for the reply...

Would you reckon I'm better off with Eircom then?

Had Magnet before when I lived in Cork, wasn't fibre power and they turned down the speed on my line after the first few months... f*ckers

I have found them to be OK in Lusk (fatpipe 70) lately there have been a lot of disconnections but I got a very propmpt reply from their tech support when I reported it , they are aware of this and are working on an issue on the network , didnt have a date for completion though . the good thing about Magnet is no contract , Ive been with many different ISPs over the years and they are all good and bad at different times

i was with magnet myself around christmas time when all magnets fatpipe customers where suffering major speed drops from 70mb down to as low as 0.5mb, they dont care about customers and have a premium rate number for customer support

i left them as the service was utter useless, i was synced at 50/20 but yet couldnt stream from netflix at its lowest settings, great at off peak times ie when normal people are in bed, but the rest of the time............

save yourself headaches and go with anyone else ;)

I did a quick google search as dazdrog seems to be really down on Magnet and as a past customer I don't think they are that bad -

"they dont care about customers and have a premium rate number for customer support"
    - your opinion tbh but my contact and interactions were always good - 1890 is not premium....

"i was synced at 50/20 but yet couldn't stream from netflix at its lowest settings"
    - I looked up the netflix speed poll and it looks like magnet have been top for months and months...

I have upc 200mb and its good but also slows down at certain times and is plagued with DNS issues ..but you know... I kind of expect that from the Infrastructure Ireland has for telecoms....

why did you do a google search? you should of searched the forum

heres one topic thats got 104 pages of peoples problems, thats only one link theres plenty more. the topic is running since 2006 to this year ;)

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055026088

theres also the fact that they rate limit ftp connections

when i had the problems with them it was simple when they launched fiber (off eircoms network) they 100% didnt have enough bandwidth for the amount of customers they got with the launch.

as for your netflix rating comment, yeah that have that rating but yet loads of the forum users had problems streaming from them. thats also another fact.

this was my magnet fatpipe 70mb connection 60-70% of the time, i was synced at 50/20

    Don't bother with them OP...

Here is my speed test result right now....

If I test it again at 12.00am it will be back up to around 45mb and 20up and 12ms ping....

They throttle and assured me they never would enforce it....

Forgot to add, I'm up the road in Balrothery....

Thanks for all the info lads, I'm going to go with Eircom. They also provide tv now so that suits as well.

My own experience with Magnet when I lived in cork... I was with them for 6 months, Signed up for 24mb, I got 10mb from

the start, after 3 months it was 4mb. They definitely throttle it down but I wasnt sure if their service was any better on fibre

    power.

    I know now!

its a stable profile thats needed to make sure you can get the evision service without any break up in picture quality

Yeah I wouldn't bother with the TV from them due to the BB speed reduction, a good combo box for Saorview and Freeview and you will be good to go with no bills and pretty much the same thing Eircom are offering....
