Lost all recordings on UPC DVR

Only recently (ie last few months) upgraded to a STB from UPC with a built in Digital Recorder. Family has been making good use of it and we have had several episodes of several series recorded. Hard studying leaving cert student in house looking forward to relaxing after exams catching up on some promising TV episodes.

Turned on TV today and was surprised to see a screen coming up asking me to initialise my installation. (Did this months ago, for the current STB and years ago for the first time) I had to put in my three digit activation code, which necessitated a call to the hotline, and everything started up OK.

I had to go through the inconvenience of reproggramming all my Favourites as those settings seemed to be lost. A bit of hassle but no biggie.

It was only later on that i discovered that All, yes ALL, recordings on the DVR had been wiped!! It has a 100% free disk space for us to start filling up again. Is this a common occurrence?

It is a major piss off, especially for our son on the first day of his LEaving. We could havd done without this.

Or could someone inadvertently buggered the whole TV/STB settings including the DVR causing the disk to be wiped?

Would appreciate any help before I ring UPC tomorrow and breathe fire at them.

    Is it a Horizon box?

if he was asked to enter a 3 digit country code it isn't a horizon box.

We lost all recordings on our UPC HD box this week. (not Horizon, but previous generation which we moved back to due to the rubbish Horizon box).

My wife thinks it was on 5th June also.

I just lost all my recordings on UPC horizon box. I had also experienced 'freezing' when watching recorded programs.
I rang UPC and they advised me that this was a 'known fault' on both counts , loss of recording s and freezing, they don't publish known faults but they assured me I will get a text when the software bug is resolved.
I thought it appropriate to warn others as loss of recordings is a pain.

Maybe we have to go back to VCR (for those who can remember)!

I wonder if you "lost" their payment details and didn't pay your bill for a month...text them and tell them it's a "known fault" on your side.
