Planning dept access to revenue/employment details

    Hi,

I'm hoping to build on the family farm, but need advice on meeting the requirements as the land is zoned 'G' meaning my principal employment must be in agriculture or local crafts. I do work on the farm, and so will be using this as the basis for my argument. However, I also have a fulltime job.

I have no plans to lie on the application, but I am planning to be economical with the truth. I do have other sources of income from local oddjobs that I can include to show that I have income additional to the farm. I would love to work fulltime on the farm, and do plan to eventually (meaning I know I'd get planning eventually...) but there's no way I'd be able to get a mortgage right now without another job.

My question is - can the planning authorities look up my employment details or can they only use information that I supply? If they ask for additional information on my employment I'd withdraw the application and rethink, but I don't want to put in the application if they are immediately going to look up my revenue details and say no...

You work on the family farm. That's the criteria, why not be honest re work?

I don't know what records the LA have access too but I imagine Very little.

Requirement is that it be my principal employment...not sure how open to interpretation that is- I could claim that it takes up more time than a 9-5 but it definitely doesn't bring in more money..
