They are closely related to wisteria aren't they? How big would one eventually grow? Are they as invasive as wisteria?

Yep, looks just like a tree our neighbour had when we were kids. We were all afraid of our lives of it, as we believed it to be poisonous  (No idea if it actually was, we never tested the theory!)

ETA re query re size, the one our neighbour had was big - overhung the pathway into the house and the footpath, and the neighbour's garden. Wasn't rambling like wisteria, was a single tree.

Just to say, the pods are deadly. Keep away from animals and kids

Laburnum is a medium sized tree, and is only related to wisteria by being in the pea family - as are a whole lot of things! They are however, both poisonous. Most people are not aware of just how many garden and house plants are poisonous, and the best policy is to teach children not to eat things that have not been approved by an adult. If you check out a list of poisonous plants you may decide to concrete over your garden!

    Laburnum x watereri 'Vossii'.

    Short-lived but commanding bloom.
