I need to help clear my late mothers house in UK and help my brother, who still lives there, but has bought another property, to move. I have helpers.

I thought it might be cheaper to buy a van there, move stuff, dump stuff, etc, bring stuff back (for a house here I have yet to find that will need some furniture etc), sell it. Compared to renting a van for an extended period.

Thoughts please, including things I haven't thought of that might impede my masterplan.

Comparisons to buying a van here, going there and coming back?

Anyone want a van brought back from UK?

AFAIK, I could import a van for eur200

Are insurance quotes taken into account?

If you organize it properly you might need a van for 2 days. Can't see buying being better than rental tbh.

I haven't got any, I'm just floating the idea. I tried to get a quote to insure a van maybe 10 years ago from a broker, they wouldn't give me a quote at all because I didn't have an established business. If I brought back a couple of double beds and a van full of other bits and bobs, it would save me buying 2 new ones for say eur600.

I'm not looking to make vast profits on selling a van here, just reducing the overall cost.
