Puncture Aftermath - Opinions?

So first puncture in about 2,500km and It would seem I rolled over something very sharp back and front. The front wheel survived and the back had a slow puncture. The marks are the same on both tyres.. I guess with the extra weight on the rear meant it punctured the tube.

Question is now, the tyres have these "Viper Teeth" in both of them... very heavy indentations on both. I've ordered a new set but what would peoples opinions on them be? Are they fit for the bin or is there some life left in them yet inflated to 100psi?

Are those two holes not the wear indicators on all conti tyres?

I think the real culprit is to the left of the left "viper teeth" as you put it.

tyres are probably OK but you are going to need a new bike its a safety issue

    I'd use them again.

They look like Gatorskins, and judging by the indicators there is loads of life in them yet!! Would expect to get at least 5,000 km out of them based on past experience, but your mileage may vary.

I was actually tryin to work out today how long my gatorskins have been on. Must be well over a thousand km's at this stage. Probably jinxing myself now but no punctures since I've had them on. Great for a small time cyclist like me. I know there's tyres with better rolling but seriously not havin to change a tube to me is worth it.

Those circular marks are 'wear indicators' they show how much life the tire has left in it. When they wear away, you need new tires. There's plenty of life left in those.

Loads of life in those. If you're dumping them I'll take them.

If nothing else they're turbo tyres.

That's great. I know now how to check for wear in the tyres! I had thought I had ran over some form of fencing staple stuck to the ground. Gonna hold onto them for a little while longer. Thanks everyone!

Gatorskins are great. Did 100km on some seriously bad roads, bulletproof :D

They are wear indicators, when you can no longer see them then it is time to change your tyres.
