I'm thinking of getting one of these in the next 6 months/year.

Is there anything I need to look out for? Any parts that cause problems; are servicing costs & parts astronomical? When was the current model released and are there models that need to be avoided?

I'm planning to buy second hand, so it'll probably be around 4-5 years old and spec may or may not be base level. Also, I'm not living in Ireland at the moment, so car ownership isn't as expensive as at home.

Not going for the 4c anymore?

I was going to start a similar thread about a boxter in Dubai, I think they are pretty much the same car so I will keep an eye on any reply's you get.

I still really want the 4C, but the price is high & it's not gonna be very practical here. Theres lots of Caymans on Dubizzle & its more of a daily driver. I think I need to earn a few quid more before getting the Alfa + if I buy a second hand Cayman I'd probably be able to keep my 4x4 too.

I believe the Boxter is very similar to the Cayman - right down to having the same interior.

Make sure you have an inspection done by a specialist including checking the bores for scoring.

They are a lovely car, engine based on the 996 so inherits the same problems.
Ims, rms, scored bores, cracked liners, do your homework.
