Flying to NYC from Dublin via CDG. Just had a look at tickets. Arriving T1 CDG flying out of T2E only 1 hour 50 mins later. Having read that CDG is a bit of a nightmare for connections (long long after booking the flights) am now freaking a bit about making the connection with three kids (9, 11, 13) in tow. Any advice? Experiences?

You should be ok...just don't dilly dally. You will most likely arrive at a remote gate and get a bus to the terminal. Follow the signs to your new gate. You will have to go through immigration as you're travelling from a non Schengen area so have passports in an easily accessible location. You may or may not have to go through security, I've had to sometimes and others I haven't had to, it depends on your departure gate.

Oh and wear comfy shoes..the walk between gates can be very long!

Out of interest, how much cheaper in total were the flights via France than direct?

Thanks for the reply athtrasna...will have to give the gang a peptalk and maybe incentivise a dawdle free transfer with a bag or two or haribo....

helimachoptor....at the time of booking about 4 months ago, 5 months before departure, the marginal cost of direct flights was about 200 yoyos, so for us a saving of 1000...given we are spending 3 weeks in the states we need to save where we can. Direct flights home though...:)

Travel through CDG regularly and find it really easy and quick to navigate around to be honest. Gets a lot of bad press but trains are very speedy between terminals and security generally very quick.
