Hey guys, I have tried, to record from tv to DVD recorder and all I is Snow?.
I have removed the hd cable (which defeats the purpose of hd) and tried it on the scarts but still won't work. Has anyone had the same problem and fixed it?.

The tv is hd ready so is the samsung DVD recorder. We got the sky hd box about a month ago.
    Any help greatly appreciated.

My current connections are as follows:
    1) TV HDMI - SKY BOX HDMI
    2) Sky box (DVD/VCR) SCART SOCKET - DVD RECORDER (AV2 Exit) SCART SOCKET
    3) TV (AV1) SCART - DVD RECORDER (AV1 TV) SCART

DVD Recorders by definition don't do HD. Not in any sensible fashion. Some may have HDMI outputs to upscale. This is only needed if an HDTV has no SCART. Component from DVD player to HDTV works nicely as then PAL is output 1440 x 576 analogue and NTSC 1440 x 480, with progressive possible if source if DVD of Film. In general in "PAL" world, HD upscaled HDMI or Component Progressive is of little value compared to "NTSC" World.

I've used a DVD recorder via its SCART input from Sky box VCR Scart out. Going RF to Tuner would be very much poorer quality.

Some programs are blocked from recording using Analogue macrovision.

A TV is either HDTV or isn't really. HDTV Ready really usually means just up to 1920 x 1080 HDMI input is possible, no HD Tuner and much less than HD Resolution native display. (720 or 768 common but some Plasma screens able to downsample HD to 480 lines have been sold as HD Ready).

So if you have "snow" you are not selecting the AV input on DVD recorder, or have the two SCARTS on DVD recorder mixed up.

What are you trying to record from the TV?

I have done this previously before a Saorview DTT recorder became available (TV to DVD recorder), it will only record the channel selected on the TV. Ensure the the scart on the TV allows an output signal (input/output type) and the scart on the DVD recorder is also input/output.

I hadn't thought of recording the TV SCART. Because in fact when I was doing this it would ONLY have had the TV tuner output. Not much use to record Sky box.
