Ive seen this mentioned a few times here, it happened to me yesterday in the phoenix park. I have to double check but I think I had the bars 2 years, bought from new - 3ttt

had 2 crashes in that time but at low speed

I was very lucky this happened on a grassy downhill and I had the brake engaged, usually I do these at full speed but there was a stream at the bottom and I hadnt been in that part of the park before.
I had a scare a few weeks ago where I hit a bump at the bottom of the military fort hill and the chain popped off, that could have also added to a stress fracture on the bars

so just a word of warning, if in doubt change your bars after an accident and every 2 years of heavy use

also I carry heavy shopping bags on the bars sometimes
