I was wondering why there hasn't been a lot of pre-publicity for the Big Money Game's replacement.

It turns out that it's NOT going to be shown on RTE1...

    http://www.irishmirror.ie/whats-on/arts-culture-news/i-thrilled-new-show-dressing-3601026

Back in 2011, I set up a thread entitled "Is there really a need for a National Lottery game show every single Saturday night?!" I strongly doubt that anyone at Montrose or Abbey Street paid much attention to that thread - but it is good to see that they have finally realised, to some extent, that there isn't a need.

There's still going to be this show, but it'll only be viewable on lottery.ie and on YouTube. And probably just as well - it sounds like it's just Winning Streak On The Road, and it's hosted by Brian Bleeding Ormond...

I assume there will episodes being left to play on Youtube after it is shown live on the weekends.

A format like this is going to be very time consuming for the behind the scenes people involved on making the sets in different parts of the country. Every time there will be going to a different area each week; they would no doubt be knackered for a while after making them.

How is the show going to be located in the towns mentioned in that article?

How long is the length of the show going to be each week?

Oh, I'm sure they'll find buildings in these counties that are big enough. ;)

How long is the length of the show going to be each week?

From lottery.ie (with some editing as, once again, whoever typed it up didn't do the greatest job of it):
Every Saturday, from June 7th to August 23rd inclusive, five lucky players will join Brian Ormond at the iconic National Lottery wheel. Sound familiar? Well here’s the difference; each of the five players are guaranteed to spin that wheel, so each week every one of the five players could potentially win a quarter of a million euro; not bad for a couple of hours on Saturday afternoon!

I presume they'll edit each episode down to one hour before putting it on the Net that evening.

so what's replacing it on RTE? Diversion with Anne Doyle. it seems.

Well, the pilot that aired last December, anyway. I haven't heard anything about a full series.

APPARENTLY, ACCORDING TO RTE GUIDE, ITS ON SATURDAY!
    And yes, I am shouting!

APPARENTLY, ACCORDING TO RTE GUIDE, ITS ON SATURDAY!
    And yes, I am shouting!

Brian told the Mirror it wouldn't be on TV.

Marty and Sinead said nothing about it being on the telly when they drew the players for the first episode.

And on lottery.ie it says (again, edited as necessary):
For the shy and retiring types, you don’t even have to worry about appearing on national television. But if you’re looking for your 15 minutes of fame, fear not, each game can be watched here or on our YouTube channel every Saturday evening.

So either all three of these parties are wrong, or the RTE Guide is... ;)

I meant that the Anne Doyle thing is on, not Moneyspinner.

Well, why didn't you say so, then? And you didn't have to shout, either. :o:o:D:);)

I had watched the first episode on youtube yesterday. It was very basic stuff like spinning the big wheel, contestants picking boxes for special prizes and choosing next week's players.

Saturday's episode is here if you havent seen it.

That episode looked really cheap, it was like someone filming a match from the sideline on their phone. The contestants, audience and props are on top of each other.

All the budget must have spent on the adverts for the series! I'm not a fan of Brian Ormond but he isn't the worst part of this show.

I was hoping they'd do something like the ads, but cheaper, something like an Irish It's a Knockout, which would perhaps unfairly then peg Ormondo as an Irish Stuart Hall, which isn't right, as Ormond isn't that bad.

You should see the comments for the second episode being up on Youtube right now. They don't look too kind to the National Lottery in fairness to them.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jh15jNko0Gg

I think those Youtube posters may have a point as the prizes are still too low for players to win on that show. If the Money Spinner format continues on like this relentlessly during the summer, it may be dropped after the disaster of the Trump Card with Laura Woods after it's first series.

Lads and ladies, I don't mean to cause offence to anyone working on the show but it is so amateur. I bet you could get 3 people on boards to film and edit the show down and it would look more professional, I could nearly do a better job doing it myself.
and the whole pick a box thing is ridiculous. You'd think they'd at least label the boxes i.e. Blue, Red, silver... or 1,2,3 or a,b,c and so on. They never seem to say the basic colours.. some people call red maroon. silver's been called lilac and mauve it really is car crash tv. I bet ya RTE would NEVER let this be aired as production values for the show are just too bad.
Again to return to the preface of the comment. I do not wish to cause offence to anyone by my comments but I feel they are justified

Hahahaha look at this screen shot I took from one episode

I was prepared for a fair bit of pain watching it... :o:o:o;)

    But what's the shock?

    That is all auld wans?

    That is all auld wans?

Why, that's not a shock at all. ;)

Nor is the fact that they're all female. (Well, in most episodes of National Lottery game shows with five contestants, at least three of the five don't have a Y chromosome...) :o:o;)

And nor is the fact that the prizes in the boxes were found in increasing order of value (first the tablet, then the smart TV, then the shopping spree, then the city break and finally the holiday voucher).

So what is the shock?:confused:

I meant to say that I was surprised to see a woman who is resident in the UK and who won the big jackpot on Money Spinner from last week's episode.

I didn't see that as a common thing when watching the National Lottery shows here in Ireland, that someone from the UK would be allowed enter into a show here while not living in Ireland on a full-time basis.

I do know that this lady from Middlesex still has an address in Co. Monaghan. I would think that if a person has a dual residence in Ireland and the UK, that person should be able to enter the shows here.

I knew a long time ago that Irish people were able to purchase UK lottery tickets while living in Ireland. I suppose you could balance it out in that respect.
