BTEA payment

I'm a bit confused here and need advice.

I'v 2 weeks left on my BTEA for this year and got a letter from the social welfare stating that they want me to apply for next year already. The girl told me if I return to work even for the summer my BETA will be cut and I probably won't be able to receive it atall.

Not to sound like a sponger but would I not be better off doing nothing or even volunteering for the summer so I can receive my BTEA when I return to college in sept?

    What girl told you this?

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

As long as you are back on your social welfare payment BEFORE your next year in college starts then all is good. It may be means tested (not sure stories tend to differ) but for it to make a major change would require you earning a lot of cash in the three months.

It seems strange that they suggested that you not work, as any time I have dealt with my local office about this they have been more than eager to help me stay of the live register and spelled out quite clearly the steps to take to do this correctly.

I'd actually prefer to stay off the actual jobseekers as I'd only be entitled to 100 a week which is gonna be hard considering i'v been getting 160 the last 9 months. if I go up and explain that to them will they be able to do something for me?
