I need to slightly shorten a plastic pipe with a compression fitting on the end, will I be able to undo the nut, take out the insert, cut the pipe & refit the connection using the same olive & insert or do I need to get new ones, wondering if the olive will have been compressed too much that it wont move

    Thanks

If it was fitted & properly then it should be stuck & you wont be able to remove it. Either way it shouldn't be reused if you do manage to get it off. Technically you should use a new insert too.

New insert and olive, as per above. These cost next to nothing in a hardware so just pick up a few of each.
