Hi I am currently doing a self build and it's soon time for a sub floor, I'm being given conflicting advice on the concrete. I will be back filling the strip foundation with stone/gravel and whacking it, then I don't know weather to pour a sub floor or to leave it and do a one pour finish floor? Any advice would be appreciated!

You need a structural engineer. One who will "sign off". No other opinion matters.

Have you got a current, up to date, home bond manual?
That's the first basic place you need to start.
When did you commence construction on site, and are you aware of the new building regulations ?
Are you going to have a mortgage on this property and/or do you ever intend possibly selling it again sometime in the future ?

Thats a pretty major choice to make, so many knock on effects.

Your engineer, armed with all relevant information, is the one to make this call.

Did you not get this sort of detail from your engineer already Treloh? Seems a bit amiss if you have to ring him to find out.
