i bought a 2001 ford fiesta about a week ago. To me the bonnet is almost like its over sized. i know that the grill isnt original cause its painted silver it was originally red. Anyone know if the bonnet is meant to be like this or am i just being crazy?

for some reason i can't post pictures something much have changed since i was last on here

I'd be thinking that it was a botched repair job, therefore the bonnet isn't sitting down properly. You can't post pics or do anything really until you have more than 50 posts. If you want, you can PM me the pics and I'll put them up :)

Yeah it kind of looks like that cause the grill doesn't clip into place , the bonnet closes properly just when you pull the release you have to kind of pull the bonnet up to get at the latch . of course it would be 50 when I'm on 42 XD yeah thanks that would dead sound ill send them to you now.

Is the grill not sitting properly into the clips at either side of the light clusters? The grill, bonnet and top of the light clusters should all line up together. Looks very much like it was in a bang

Pop the bonnet, remove the grill and have a look straight down. You'll see the bumper re-enforcement bar. If this is pushed or bent in at any point, this is the dead giveaway that your car has had a front impact at some point.

*edit* having looked back at your post above, I see that you already said the grill doesn't clip in

Yeah that's what I was thinking it was plus the grill isn't original its painted silver was originally red , if I'm thinking of the same thing the bar im thinking of is pushed back but it looks like it's meant to be like that cause its in the middle and evenly done or something I did a car history check and it says its hasn't been written of but as far as I know that's only of they went through insurance

The car wouldn't have to be written off to bend the bumper bar. it shouldn't be flat in the middle, it should follow the curve of the bumper. Most likely your headlamp alignment is off as well, as the lamps are directly connected to the bumper bar

Mine looks like it has been bent alright again if I'm thinking of the same bar of course best thing I think I can do is take the bummper of and take a picture of it, by what people have been saying its beginning to make sense why its not fitting right , worst case and it has had a bang at the front what can I do ?

Here's a copy of a post from myself dealing with this exact problem a couple of weeks ago
Decided to tackle my front bumper reinforcement bar, which had recently been used for its intended purpose (bumping things)

First job was to remove light clusters, although the drivers side proved tricky due to the new bumper shape.

Step 2, undo fastners in the wheel arch connecting bumper to wheel arch and body.

Step 3, remove airbox section below the filter to expose the second of two mounting bolts for the bumper.

Step4, remove mounting bolts. Bumper should now simply pull away from the body.

Step 5, use my newly bought slide hammer to pull bumper bar forward.

Step 6, curse and kick my car as I realise that my plan is not going to work.

Step 7, drive around country lanes with a ratchet strap looking for a big tree.

Step 8, meet a very helpful fella, who brought me up to his farm yard, put his oxy-acetyl torch to the bumper bar, then used his baling straps to wrap the bumper to a length of box iron concreted into his yard

Step 9, reverse car until the bar looks relatively straight.

Refitting, as they say, is the reverse of removal. Now hoping that when I go to get the lights aligned it will have worked.

Say this is what I am going to have to do is it safe to the car as in road worthiness and still being able to take an impact to
