Motherboard and Graphics Card Problem

    Hey guys,

Me and my brother built a gaming rig a year ago.

For the past year when turning it on it would loop, sometimes it would go straight on to windows, other times mostly, the screen would go on and off aswell as all usb devices and eventually it would come on.

The other day it wouldn't come on at all, after taking the graphics card out and swapping it with another one to see, it worked perfectly so we sent a request to Sapphire as its still under warranty and they are going to take it and test it.

However, with the graphics card out now, and doing normal computer things like browsing, sometimes when we turn it on the usb's wont register or work and they have to be taken out and put back in to make them work. Also, sometimes it will just randomly crash also.

    Any idea on whats wrong?

I was thinking Mobo or Processor, I have the details of the build below. Cheers.

    Moteboard: ASRock Z77 Pro3

    Processor: Intel i7

Graphics Card: Sapphire HD 7870 XT

Is your Bios up to date and have you the GPU or CPU overclocked?

If they are, reset them to normal and see if that helps.

It could be your mobo acting wonky. Is it still under warranty?

Must check and see if they are up to date, haven't overclocked it yet.

Don't think the Mobo is still under warranty, then again I don't mind picking up a new one if it is the problem.

You start off with the easiest to check. Gpu (done) and ram.

I'd guess mobo. But that is just a guess.
