s the HPV virus the cause of all abnormal smear tests?

    My partner of eighteen years confessed that he was having an affair during the best part of our relationship.

    I don't want to get into much detail but we are still living together because of assets etc. I am unsure whether I want to continue with the arrangement we have.

    I don't believe he has ended his relationship with the other woman but that is a whole other story.

    Anyhow, he mentioned she had abnormal smear tests and was having cells removed. This was done once a year and was suppossedly brought on by a reaction to an internal contraception???

    Forgive my ignorance but is all abnormal smear tests HPV related?

    Hi OP,

    first off, I am sorry for your current situation with your partner - I hope that one way or the other, you resolve it. Unfortunately what you are asking for constitutes medical advice, which nobody here is qualified to give. With that in mind I'd strongly suggest having a chat with your GP or your family planning clinic - they will be able to give you a definitive answer and will be able to address any concerns you may have.
