ATM located in Dublin. Not sure of there's one in Wicklow.
Most purchases of Bitcoin are carried out online.

Tks MM for coming back so soon. Being a complete novice maybe you'd point me in a safe direction to get my bitcoins and a wallet. Seen some warnings about Bitcoins.com - nervous! Regards Michael r ps Living in Wicklow it would be handy not to have to go to Abbey Street.

Download a bitcoin client to get a wallet, if you want something quick and easy then just go with Electrum, it's a thin client and doesn't download the blockchain. Do your due diligence and learn about Bitcoin at https://bitcoin.org/en/.

The easiest and safest route is to use the Bitcoin ATM in Dublin like Mountjoy Mugger said. I imagine that you probably pay a small premium on the exchange rate for the convenience though. Alternatively you can use an online exchange (I use bitcoin.de), which will give you more competitive rates but make sure you know what you're doing first.

I'm not sure what you're doing that you *need* to pay in bitcoins but if it's something on the darknet then proceed with caution and do your research first.
