02 Mondeo Door Lock Problem

I need to replace/repair the lock barrel on my driver side door.
It won't open with the key anymore, the push buttons on the remote are non-functioning too, they've been damaged a few years now.
Last night I had to get into the car through the boot:(. (This was the first time it happened)
The car is now unlockable, i've taken out the lock barrel, but haven't been able to find one on-line, there seems to be plenty of ignition barrels.
There's a lock barrel repair kit, but that seems a bit complicated.
Has anyone ever attempted this

Would the key work in the passenger door? Are you sure its the barrel and not a worn key?

No keyhole in the passenger door.
Keys are about two years old, got them cut to replace the old keys. One key was very rarely used, tried this, works fine in bonnet, boot and ignition, not a budge from the door, same with the other key which is slightly worn. Took the barrel out today cleaned and oiled it and still won't budge, definitely damaged inside.

Got a new barrel from ebay complete with key (€30) and replaced it, now working perfectly.It came with ignition barrel and bonnet barrel. I didn't bother touching the bonnet/ignition.
Only problem is there are two keys now, one for locking/opening doors and separate/original chipped one for ignition.
