Hi, I am sitting the P2 exam in June and I was wondering if anyone has any full questions with all the workings and how they slot into the overall question done that they wouldn't mind emailing to me.

So much in this exam really panicking now as they is so much in this exam and had a terrible lecture who hasn't completed one full question with us despite being asked on several occasions in class and at revision weekend.

    Thanks in advance

Well print off the answers for the questions...their available in same place on website. Just work your way through them... The example answers probably more than you'd have time to write so try pick the main points ... Maybe highlight them or summarise in your own notes... Or whatever way you study.

So what are people concentrating on?
Consolidated balance sheet with a possible foreign subsidiary could come up.
I am getting absolutely nowhere with the study. Each new exam paper I get lost with trying to do the adjustments.

As for the other questions it looks like you need to know every IAS in the course which is impossible.

I'm so confused at this stage every question I attempt takes forever, so not really getting anywhere to be honest.

With the IAS questions most of the time I don't even know what's been asked.

I sat this paper in last December. Unfortunately you really have to be prepared for anything in there. It's a very wide syllabus.

Personally I spent too much time studying Q1 in terms of doing SOFP/P&L's Cashflows etc...

Most of the marks in this exam is knowing the theory and applying it to the case study. The sample solutions will frighten you but you don't need to regurgitate them on the day to pass this exam..

Know the basics of each IAS, have a few points on each standard state them in the exam and apply them to the question..

It was a stinker of an exam for me.. I felt as if I was guessing far too early in the exam, but I just applied my logic to the case material and thankfully passed on the day..

Have a short synopsis of each IAS, keep reading over it and keep doing exam papers and you'll get through this..

Is it ok not to write the IAS number but just the name and apply what you do taking a particular IAS into account? Reason I am asking this is because I am doing the Irish version of paper (which was encouraged by our lecturer) and it was only last weekend that our lecturer said that we should of been learning FRS not IAS. Confusing really when he continued to teach us IAS with 90% of the class doing Irish.

How did you get on with the Dec sitting?

I got 61%... Honestly I knew the IAS number's but I don't think it's a big issue not stating the number e.g. starting a question with Intangible Assets rather than IAS38 Intangible assets..

I did the international variant because the lecturer was teaching that variant. A few did the Irish variant and passed.. Apparently there's not meant to be that much of a difference but I honestly would not know because I didn't do it..

Is it P2 the only exam your sitting?

Well done on passing P2 - 61% was great, i'd be happy with a 50% at this stage.

Yes i'm only P2 - but really can't see me getting anywhere. These exams seem to take forever especially if you don't get it first sitting.

Are you doing exam this time round?

Thanks. Sitting P1 & F4.. I was meant to sit F4 last dec but I dropped it in the end...I switched from ACA because I work in industry.
trying to get time off from work is a killer but it's pretty much the same for everyone.. I'm off for 3 days (this includes the day of the exam)..

These exams seem to take forever especially if you don't get it first sitting.

Your spot on there... less than 2 weeks to go so just need to keep the motivation levels up :D

Ya same with mine. He was a bit of bollox. But in the answers for the Irish version they still are stating all the IAS and applying those. They never mention an FRS only for the questions that are to compare the differences between the two.
