    Hi guys,
can someone explain what exactly my car failed the NCT on
    it says

Windscreen Wipers and Washers (9) Wiper Blades Unacceptable NearsideFront

Im not sure if they mean that I have one wiper blade of the wrong make?
its not a big deal but im just not 100% sure what is meant by this.
    Anyone know?

    thanks

What condition are your wiper blades in?

they are fine. I haven't noticed a reason to change them yet.

Does the whipper work if it's on? Or make a noise or something?
If not it could be the brand if it looks wrong or if something loose!

How old are they? Are they the correct size?

i dont remember how old they are but not more than a year.
it could be a size issue but its not something that stands out to me.

Did you not ask what the problem was at the NCT centre? Normally the lads are sound enough and give you a bit of feedback.

Most wiper blades lose their effectiveness after about 6 months. Some have indicators on them to indicate when you should change them. No one here can tell you what the tester found unacceptable (without seeing them). Change your blades, they are due anyway. Just make sure to get the right size.

Since when are they effectiveness after 6 month? had wippers on my car for 2+ years and they worked still like new, is that a NCT regulation?

It was from (I think) an autoexpress review of a range of wiper blades. They tested top of the market vs budget brands, and found the effectiveness to be broadly similar across the range. After 6 months some of the premium brands still were working ok (but not 100%), while most of the cheaper ones had significant loss of performance.

    (I don't think I dreamt it. If I did, it's a bit of a shíte dream!) :D

that is strange, my husbands car passed it's NCT two weeks ago, but his back wiper blade had almost no rubber left. he meant to replace it bought the new one and all, but forgot to change it out for the new one when going to the center.

    nothing was said about it.

According to the test manual wipers can be failed if they are "Not cleaning windscreen effectively" among other reasons. Perhaps there was just grease or road film on the windscreen which gave the impression the wiper blade was not working properly.

They can also fail if the linkage is worn, or if the washers are mis-aimed/not working so check those too.

Back wiper isnt on the test as every car doesnt have one,

i had a failed wiper motor on a focus and the tester told me its not on the test,
