Seen his UK dates but didnt think he had announced an Irish date. Delighted though . Fingers crossed for a decent support

Saw him in the Olympia last year, cracking show, hopefully he'll sound good on the bigger stage in 02

Maybe Myles could persuade Mark to bring Tremonti if they are available.

Not sure I'll go. Prefer the smaller gigs up close. I don't like the thought of sitting far away from them

Why is every medium-sized act under the sun playing the O2?

Because we haven't got a decent medium-sized venue in the country.

Because this city has no mid range capacity venue, around 5-6,000.

Simplest way would be to build alongside The 02 (On the quays side), wouldn't cost too much as infrastructure already there, they could use the venue for various other crap too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,007 ✭✭✭✭hynesie08

Is the o2 paid off? like is it possible that the setup costs of a new venue would mean that it'd end up costing the same to rent as a debt free o2.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,328 ✭✭✭karaokeman

Good points on the lack of a medium-sized venue, this seems to be just another sign :p.

Still would of preferred two nights in an intimate setting like the Olympia.

The last time I heard of it been used was for nickelback and the lead singer giving out about how hot it was in the place.

The Grand Canal (Board Gais) Theater is a mid-sized capacity venue (2,111) but it doesn't appear to host many concerts.

Slash in your toilet?! There's a joke there somewhere. :pac:

I like the Grand Canal Theatre (better name for it lol) but, like the NCH, I see it as more suited to folk and easy listening music. Its fully seated always, and I don't think too many diehard Slash fans would tolerate that.

what kind of stuff did he play at that show ? Watched the "live at stoke" again recently, and wondered if this Novemeber show would be similar , playing songs from the different bands he was with ?

He was probably complaining about the sound as well because Nickelback were playing.

Yep, pretty much a selection of all the different bands he's been in.

It was the lead singer from nickelback complaining. Stained played that night too.

Yeah but he still most likely didn't want to listen to Nickelback.

I'd love to go see Slash but I cannot suffer Myles Kennedy's high pitched wailing. Why him Slash? Why?

I think Myles Kennedy is excellent...if you close your eyes it could be Axl at times..well, nearly.

Myles is an excellent vocalist, and, unlike Axl he's PROFESSIONAL, if he's due on stage at 21:30 he'll be onstage at 21:30

The whole band in excellent in fairness, even the bassist is a serious vocalist, absolutely blew me away in Olympia.

Was at Guns N roses in 2012 , which was good , so im expecting Slash to put them to shame at this concert , missed my chance to see him in the olympia last year

I've been trying to get seated tickets for this since they went on sale but the only seem to be selling the back 3 or 4 rows. Anyone know what the story is with this?

Seen Guns N Roses in 2012 and it was utter disappointment! Slash wouldn't dream of giving a horrible show

I used to be like that. I've been to 6 gigs recently on my own and am going to slash on my own too. Don't miss your favourite acts just cos no one else wants to go

My friend is going now. She backed out as first cause she taught tickets were going to be sky high. All is good now. I honestly would love the confidence in going on my own. I would happily go shopping etc on my own but gigs, different story altogether

That was me up until about 4 years ago , no one wanted to go to most of the gigs i wanted to go to so eventually i just got a ticket and every so often would find out a friend is going closer to the date . But i feel its like a festival since you usually go see other bands on your own and once the lights go down no ones gonna notice if you are on your own

These guys are supporting Slash on the tour apparently

I've no problems going to gigs on my own either, like FuriousRed - sometimes you end up having a great time with strangers, other times just enjoying the show, but if the thoughts of it really put you off, why not register on FestHive or meetup... Plenty of people will be looking for gig buddies, or would be happy to meet for a pint before and head in together

All of The Brown EP. First heard them on an NHL game, think its Seven Seas Blues was on it. Righteous Smoke I love as well. Only have one album out, great opportunity for them.

Do you think if we all started Chanting "godfather " he would play the legendary solo ?

    Legendary? Really?

I'd rather he play actual songs. His solo at the last gig grew tedious after 10 minutes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,054 ✭✭✭D.Q

absolutely hate guitarists taking huge solo breaks during sets. Absolutely kills the momentum, a solo is only worth listening to IMO, if the song is giving it context.

Watching Black label society at download 2012, Zakk wylde must have taken three or four solo sections. And with him its just trills and harmonics so you can imagine how tedious that became
